ABOUT STEPHANIE

Stephanie Gilliam is a Chicago-based film and television production designer and art director specializing in turning complex ideas into exciting pictorial experiences. Stephanie is currently the production designer on Dick Wolf’s Chicago Med and was recently the supervising art director on HBO’s Lovecraft Country pilot. From Zach Snyder’s Man of Steel and Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion to Lisa Cholodenko’s Laurel Canyon, she has worked on everything from prestige TV and global blockbusters to auteurist indies. Stephanie began her career as a staff architect at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, where she contributed to the Korea World Trade Center in Seoul and the Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai. Stephanie applies her expertise in interiors and architecture to translate history, culture, and emotion into breathtaking environments, as amply evidenced in her creative management of President Obamas' White House holiday decor in 2011 and her detailed period set pieces, the Lovecraft Country pilot. 

Stephanie earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University, her master’s in architecture from Catholic University, and her MFA from the American Film Institute, where she won the Hollywood Foreign Press Award. She lives in Chicago with her spouse, daughter, and dog. She is a member of the Art Directors Guild Local 800.
